Film Review Captain America The Winter SoldierDuring a recent interview some interesting comments were made about the prospects of a Warner Brother’s/DC Entertainment releasing a Wonder Woman movie.

In a recent interview with geekdad.com – Anthony Mackie aka The Falcon is quoted as saying:

”Scarlett [Johansson] does great representation of [Black Widow] for all the other girls, but there should be a Wonder Woman movie.”

Explaining further that he feels Wonder Woman is a vital property that appeals to females he added:

“I don’t care if they make 20 bucks, if there’s a movie you’re gonna lose money on, make it Wonder Woman. You know what I mean, because little girls deserve that.

”There’s so many of these little people out here doing awful things for money in the world of being famous. And little girls see that. They should have the opposite spectrum of that to look up to.”

Of course the ironic part to this is that should he reprise his role as The Falcon in the third Cap outing – As the schedule is at this current time then he will be somewhat of a barrier to that happening as the yet unnamed Superman vs. Batman picture looks as though it is the first building block to that happening.

As it currently stands both features as scheduled for 6th of May release in 2016, With neither Marvel Studios or Warner Bro’s showing any flexibility it still remains to be seen whether this will be the final date – However it isn’t in either party’s interest to go head to head an risk damaging there potential box office draw.

Regardless of how the two media giants get along, Surely it is encouraging that at least someone in the fold is willing to extend their well wishes about seeing the other succeed and as a minority actor – Being vocal about other under represented groups in comic book movies can arguably only be seen as a good thing.

  1. What will they do with a Wonder Woman movie? I think the answer is to go dark, or somewhat dark. Consider her history. You may want to check out Tim Hanley’s “Wonder Woman Unbound.” I recently reviewed it on my blog.

  2. I agree. I think it’s about time Wonder Woman made a big screen appearance. I really can’t see it losing money, unless it’s just a god-awful movie.
