Bruce Timm’s Batman: Strange Days left us wanting more. Well, ask and you shall receive. Straight from WonderCon direct to your eyeballs, DC and Warner Bros. Animation present the second animated short, this time set in the Batman Beyond franchise.

Bruce Timm teams us with Darwyn Cook, the designer Batman Beyond’s intro credits. Kevin Conroy returns as the elderly Bruce Wayne and Will Friedle reprises his role as Terry McGinnis – or the future’s Batman.

Terry returns to the cave to find Bruce Wayne having been assaulted. The two of them work together to take down the perpetrator, which turns out to be Batman. Although they don’t mention HARDAC’s name outright, the half and half Batman/Terminator is a definite callback to Batman: The Animated Series.

But wait there’s more! Bruce whoever did this didn’t stop at one. What we get next is pretty epic, like Dan Slott’s Spider-Verse, we get a swarm of Batmen. First up the animated properties; Beware the Batman, The Batman, Batman the Brave and Bold, The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller; than the movies Michael Keaton and Adam West; finally the one who started the 1930’s Batman by Bob Kane.

It’s a shame we don’t get to see the battle take place on screen but we can imagine that Bruce and Terry own the copies. Hopefully these two shorts will generate enough enthusiasm from fans to bring back both Batman: The Animated Series and Batman Beyond.

The short airs next Wednesday after a new episode of Teen Titans Go, but why wait that long? Check it out and tell us what you think in the comments below.
