With its release date around the corner you would think Sin City: A Dame to Kill would be pumping out promotional material left and right (they’ve had nine years to prepare.) Well, things finally seem to be picking up, as Dimension Films have released five character posters;
However, Jessica Alba’s Nancy and Mickey Rourke’s Marv are two images we’ve previously seen. Rosario Dawson reprises her role as Gail the leader of the Girls of Old Town. Josh Brolin is new to the franchise, but his character Dwight was played by Clive Owen in the first film. Newbie to the franchise in terms of both talent and character is Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Johnny. It’ll be exciting to see what he brings to the table (pun intended) other than a string of bad luck, considering his rise as a “mainstream” actor in Hollywood.
Their marketing department needs to release a deck of cards inspired by Sin City as part of the merchandising, because that Ace of Hearts looks as sharp as the black and white effects used in the film.
The official synopsis:
CO-DIRECTORS ROBERT RODRIGUEZ AND FRANK MILLER REUNITE TO BRING MILLER’S VISUALLY STUNNING “SIN CITY” GRAPHIC NOVELS BACK TO THE SCREEN IN SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR. WEAVING TOGETHER TWO OF MILLER’S CLASSIC STORIES WITH NEW TALES, THE TOWN’S MOST HARD BOILED CITIZENS CROSS PATHS WITH SOME OF ITS MORE NOTORIOUS INHABITANTS.
Slated for August 22, 2014 Sin City: A Dame to Kill For stars Jessica Alba, Powers Boothe, Josh Brolin, Rosario Dawson, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Eva Green, Dennis Haysbert, Stacy Keach, Jaime King, Ray Liotta, Jeremy Piven, Mickey Rourke, and Bruce Willis.
This is an all-star cast, which should translate to more character posters… right?!
It’s worth noting that Eva Green’s character poster has been banned, further details on that can be found here.
I wonder if that’s why we haven’t seen posters for Ray Liotta, Jeremy Piven, and Bruce Willis’ characters. Hopefully that isn’t the case though.
