Marvel releases details of upcoming Avengers “Time Runs Out” crossover

Marvel have released some details of their upcoming Avengers/New Avengers crossover, entitled “Time Runs Out”.

The event, to be written by Jonathan Hickman, will catapult us eight months into the future, and will feature double-sized issues for both titles.

Senior Marvel VP Tom Brevoort revealed that “After the cataclysmic events of the Avengers tie-in to Original Sin and the revelation as to what the Illuminati has been up to all this time, we jump the storyline ahead to the moment where time runs out for everybody. In addition to setting the table for the astonishing climax of Jonathan Hickman’s run, we’ll also be providing a glimpse into the immediate future of our characters and what changes await them over the course of the next eight months of publishing.”

Also, in what could be seen as a pretty direct shot at DC and their current ‘Futures End’ series, he added “This isn’t some maybe-future; this is the real deal, what’s awaiting the Marvel Universe in the coming year.”

So what do you make of this announcement? Are you sold, or are you going to need more details before you make your mind up?

Personally speaking, they had me from “written by Jonathan Hickman”, and anything else that can be added to this event is merely a bonus in my eyes.

So let’s hear what you think, BCPeeps. Sound off!

  1. Some say this is just a way to do a soft reboot in which every character’s memory is erased. This would be similar to the Brand New Day story where the inhabitants of the Marvel world forgot Peter Parker was Spider-Man but more sweeping in scope.
