Marvel announces new Deathlok ongoing series
Marvel have announced a new ongoing Deathlok series starting this October.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the new series – from the creative team of Nathan Edmondson and Mike Perkins – will spin out of current Marvel event title Original Sin, and a short story in Original Sins #1, on sale today.
Capitalising on the renewed interest in the character as a result of his appearance in ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Edmondson explained that the series will feature “excitement and thrills on a par with any James Bond opening or Jason Bourne set-piece nestling alongside some touching character interludes.”
The titular character will be Henry Hayes, a “father and a medic who doesn’t know that he’s a machine,” and Edmondson drew parallels with such films as The Manchurian Candidate and RoboCop.
So what do you make of this news, BCPeeps? Are you happy to see Deathlok finally get his own series, or are you adding this to the “cheap, cynical cash-in” file?
