Rat Queens to be adapted into animated TV series!

RatqueensheaderVariety have confirmed that smash-hit comics sensation Rat Queens is to be adapted into an animated Television series by Weta Workshop’s Pukkeo Pictures and Heavy Metal magazine.

The “sass-and-sorcery” series, published by Image Comics and Shadowline, is created by Kurtis J. Wiebe and Roc Upchurch.  The title has spawned an incredibly passionate fanbase who will no doubt be absolutely thrilled at the prospect of seeing Hannah, Violet, Betty and Dee come to life on their TV screens.

Pukeko and Heavy Metal are planning on developing the books into a 30-minute pilot show before pitching it to various TV networks. Pukeko’s Martin Baynton and Adam Fratto will serve as executive producers on the project, alongside Heavy Metal’s Jeff Krelitz. HM’s David Boxenbaum and Rob Prior serve as co-executive producers.

So, what do you all make of this news?  Anyone else as excited as us about the prospect of seeing the ‘Queens in animated form?  Sound off in the comments.
