Miho is coming to Starling City! Well… sort of.
Actress Devon Aoki, who plays Miho in Sin City, has been cast in season three of Arrow as Tatsu Yamashiro a.k.a. Katana.
Arrow has put its own spin on familiar DC characters in the past, and Tatsu is no exception. She’ll be a mentor to Oliver via flashbacks during his time in Hong Kong, and will be considered, “a critical influence on his journey to eventually become The Arrow of present day.”
The New 52 incarnation of the Birds of Prey includes Katana as one of the full-time members. She’s a lethal martial artist and swordswoman, and her sword Soultaker allows her to communicate with her dead husband because his soul resides in the sword. Judging by Aoki performance in Sin City playing Tatsu should be a walk in the park.
Arrow’s executive producer and showrunner, Marc Guggenheim, has made it clear that he would love to get a Huntress series off the ground starring Jessica De Gouw. Could this be the ground work for a Birds of Prey spin-off? The Huntress was introduced in season one, then season two brought in Black Canary, and now Katana is in season three?! We’re just missing Barbara Gordon/Batgirl/Oracle. In Batman: The Animated Series, she dated Dick Grayson and if the rumors are true Steven R. McQueen will be playing Nightwing in season three could open the door for her debut.
What do you think? Would a Birds of Prey series work in the Arrow universe? Which characters would you like to see make an appearance on Arrow?
