Casting News Roundup – Heroes Reborn

10407924_10100112489668567_6409178304367235323_nIt was a surprise to everyone when NBC announced that Tim Kring’s Heroes would be Reborn as a 13-episode miniseries. Many of the details are still under wraps, which is frustrating, since the series isn’t scheduled to air until 2015.

Jack Coleman was the first to sign on, reprising his role as HRG (the man in the Horn Rimmed Glasses) otherwise known as Noah Bennett. There’s still no word on whether or not Claire Bennett (Hayden Panettiere) will return to the new series, but if the latest news is any indication of things to come we may not be seeing a lot of the original cast returning.

Twitter has become one of the places to break the latest news in Hollywood; a fan asked Milo Ventimiglia if main protagonist, Peter Petrelli, would be in Heroes Reborn. Unfortunately his answer was a resounding no, but wishes the cast (Jack Coleman) and the crew the best.

UntitledLikewise Ali Larter also confirmed she will not be returning to the show as either Niki, Jessica, Gina Sanders or even Tracy Strauss due to conflicting commitments with TNT’s Legends. She open to the idea of a cameo but says, “It could be possible if [Legends] would let me. It’s like the studio system from back in the day. They own me now, so they tell me what I can and can’t do.”

10556390_10100112489678547_939231617954264944_nSylar (Zachary Quinto) was one of the most popular characters on the show, rightfully so, since he was the series main antagonist. During a press tour to promote Starz reality series “The Chair” Quinto had this to say about returning to the role of the iconic villain:

“I’ve been in touch with Tim [Kring, series creator] and he told me they were doing this and we left the door open for me to be involved, the trouble is really my availability. I don’t know that it would really even be possible. And it’s a challenge for me because that experience and role and opportunity really changed my life completely and sent me on a path that I might not have otherwise have been on, but at the same time I’m very interested in forward momentum, I’m very interested in expanding and defying people’s expectations of me. I don’t know that going back to such a definitely iconic character would necessarily do that.”

It’s not three for three just yet, but it’s highly unlikely that we will see him return to the show, which potentially leaves us with five original cast members from season one: Hayden Panettiere as Claire Bennett, Masi Oka as Hiro Nakamura, Greg Grunberg as Matt Parkman, Noah Gray-Cabey as Micah Sanders, and Sendhil Ramamurthy as Mohinder Suresh.

10408811_10100112489673557_5790892748118720325_nAlthough the possibility of the original cast returning to the series is still out there, it looks as though Jack Coleman will be the only returning… for now. We’re still waiting to hear details on NBC’s webseries, which supposedly will introduce us to the new characters. However no casting announcements have been made with regards to the new cast.

Who are you hoping to see make a comeback to the series? Personally I’d love to see Hana Gitelman come back. A Mossad agent with the ability to act as a living electronic transmitter and receiver? Talk about an espionage thriller, anyways sound off in the comments.

  1. That’s not Noah Gray-Cabey, it’s a footballer that got image tagged as a lookalike and your google search skills were lazy.
