[SDCC ’14] Guardians of The Galaxy animated series on the way

Marvel announced at yesterday’s Marvel Animation SDCC panel that the Guardians of The Galaxy will be getting their very own animated series. The announcement was accompanied by a con-exclusive showing of an animated test reel for the show featuring Rocket Raccoon and Star-Lord.

In order to first get the team into people’ consciousness (as if the upcoming movie doesn’t already have fans in a flurry), the Guardians will first feature in episodes of Marvel Animation’s three current shows, Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors, Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H., and Avengers Assemble.

No dates were revealed for the series’ debut, but Marvel also confirmed second series renewals for Avengers Assemble and Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. to begin airing in the autumn, so hopefully Guardians won’t be far behind.
