Freaktown Comics launch Kickstarter for upcoming SLASHERMAINA graphic novel!
We recently covered the announcement of SLASHERMANIA, an upcoming project from self-publishing imprint Freaktown Comics. Slashermania is based around competitive mass murder romp (is “romp” the right word?) where the most twisted and depraved serial killers in the world compete for various “Slashie” awards.
Well, Freakdown have just launched a Kickstarter to help fund the creation of the Graphic Novel, and given just how much promise this title has, we simply couldn’t pass up to the opportunity to bring it to your attention.
For those of you who missed our earlier article about it, here’s the official blurb;
1983. Troubled teens from New York and Los Angeles are taken to a summer camp facility to be trained as counsellors and mix safely with other people their own age. Little do they know they are being watched by an audience hungry for sex and violence. They are the designated victims for a bizarre contest of murder and mayhem – WELCOME TO SLASHERMANIA!
Masked maniacs from across the USA, Canada, Italy & the UK compete in various categories: best Male Solo Death! Best Female Solo Death! Coitus Interruptus! Sin Punishment! Most Creative Kill! Biggest Multiple Death! The coveted Slasher of the Year award!
“And the Slashie goes to…”
Slashermania is an original graphic novel in the tradition of the classic slasher movies of the eighties. Written by Russell Hillman, with art by Ron Joseph, Jake Isenberg and Harry Saxon, and letters by Sergio Calvet.
Now, given how much we’ve loved some of Freaktown’s previous offerings like The Dark of the Forest (REVIEW) and Deadly Burlesque (REVIEW), we’re definitely excited to see how this one shapes up. Form what we can see from the exclusive five-page advance preview below, it looks to have captured the same sense of humour and fond affection for the horror genre as their previous titles, which is most definitely a good thing.
