Playroom Entertainment® is excited to announce that it will launch a Kickstarter for its new Unspeakable Words™ Deluxe Edition on Monday, January 19th. With a ton of great new images by legendary illustrator, John Kovalic, this award-winning game by iconic designers, James Earnest and Mike Selinker, will surely leave fans looking to jump on board.

Unspeakable Words is the Call of Cthulhu Word Game originally released in 2007 to rave reviews. The Classic version has been reproduced more than five times with three different colors of Cthulhu pawns throughout the years and featured humorous artwork by fantasy illustrator Tony Steele. The unique game play of Unspeakable Words has garnered numerous awards, including Games Magazine Games 100 Winner for Best New Word Game and’s Golden Geek Best Party Board Game Nominee.

In 2013, Unspeakable Words debuted on the hit web series, TableTop, starring Wil Wheaton and Felicia Day on YouTube’s Geek & Sundry channel. As a result of the exposure from that episode, viewers clamored for the product and the rush caused Unspeakable Words to run out of stock.

Now, Playroom is thrilled to take Unspeakable Words to the next level with the Deluxe edition, which will feature upgraded components such as special multi-colored pawns (five pawns each of six colors), a dice/pawn bag and other extras. AND… since this Deluxe Edition will feature artwork by famed industry and Cthulhu artist John Kovalic, fans will surely be excited to get their hands on this version as well! With the reproduction of the Classic edition and the new Deluxe version going into print, which is sure to have extras added through stretch goals, there will truly be something for everyone!

Dan Rowen, President of Playroom Entertainment, said, “Playroom has been eager to release a more specialized version of this incredible game. It has pained us that this has been unavailable recently and we are thrilled to see the Classic version come back along with this new exciting Deluxe edition. Between the amazing designers of the game, the outstanding illustrators involved with both versions and the excellent game play, we are very proud to have Unspeakable Words continue to be a part of our product line.” Rowen went on to add that “since the game has been around and doing well because of the community, we wanted to allow the community to help us make this Deluxe edition. Kickstarter is the perfect place to do this!” Playroom Entertainment’s Kickstarter for Unspeakable Words Deluxe will launch on Monday, January 19th with a $35.00 MSRP.

About Unspeakable Words:
In Unspeakable Words, you and your opponents will attempt to form words from the letter cards in your hand. Each letter is worth points – the amount of points is determined by the number of angles in the letter (where the hounds of Tindalos are lurking!). You may try to make the highest scoring word possible, but… you’ll have to test the strength of the word against a roll of the 20-sided die. Roll higher than the value of your word and you’re safe… but roll less than the value of your word and you lose a precious piece of your sanity, represented by an adorable Cthulhu pawn! Each letter is uniquely illustrated with an adorable “horrifying” character from the works of H.P. Lovecraft, which adds to the dark whimsy of the game.
