Azrael set to return to DC in Convergence: Shadow of the Bat!
DC Comics have just announced that, as part of April’s Convergence event, writer Larry Hama will be revisiting the “Shadow of the Bat” universe he helped create back in the early 90’s.
A two-issue tie-in, Convergence: Shadow of the Bat will feature artwork from Philip Tan, and will be set during the Knightfall era of Batman’s history. Taking place in the period that followed Bruce Wayne being “broken” by Bane, the series will see Bruce infiltrating the criminal underworld.
“He’s still recovering from breaking his back, he’s cut off from his home, support and funds,” Hama said, “but still carrying on being what he is, but in a covert way.”
“From my perspective, he is still broken, and trying to get back,” Tan added.
The series will also see Azrael making his return as he helps assist Bruce after his investigation becomes compromised, with Hama promising a “confrontational and antagonistic,” relationship between the two. “An allegiance of opportunity and convenience.”
Artist Tan is definitely excited about the prospect, saying “I’m not sure if any creators working for DC right now is a fan of Azrael, but I might be the biggest Azrael fan here. Jean-Paul Valley is my absolute top favorite DC character!”
So, what do you think of this idea? Will you be picking it up in April and May?

This sounds good. I always liked the Knightfall storyline and Azrael, so will have to check this one out.
