So it appears that Jesse Eisenberg will not be playing Lex Luthor in Dawn of Justice after all, but rather Alexander Luthor Jr., the son of Superman’s long-time arch-nemesis. As a way of ramping up the viral marketing for the upcoming film, a new twitter account was created yesterday bearing the character’s name, which contained a link to a mock biography written by Fortune Magazine, describing Luthor as:
a 31-year-old wunderkind who transformed an aging petrochemical and heavy machinery dinosaur into a tech darling of the Fortune 500 in what some call a superhuman feat.
The article provides further background on the character, his father, and also drops a number of hints and tidbits about the world in which the story takes place, mentioning both Wayne Enterprises and Kord Industries into the bargain. Perhaps the most significant information regarding the film’s plot, though, is Lex Corp’s development of a proprietary weapon technology
This is a product that will protect you, and everyone, from threats you don’t even know about yet. I don’t want to scare anybody… much. But there are a lot of threats out there, and they’re here today.”
Whether it’s a Brainiac AI or a Doomsday-type super solider remains to be seen, but it’s certainly news that raises excitement levels a little higher.
