Aftershock Comics have announced details of their latest series, set for release in January 2016.

Written by Brian Azzarello with artwork from Juan Doe, AMERICAN MONSTER will introduce us to Theo Montclare, a soldier who returns to the small Northwestern town that was once his home after being horribly disfigured during his tour of duty. The horrors he has witnessed have changed him emotionally and physically, both in appearance and in perception, so is he returning as a hero or a modern day Frankenstein?

The series marks the latest project from Azzarello, whose 100 Bullets series was recently picked up for adaptation by New Line, and who will be partnering with Frank Miller for the upcoming DKIII: The Master Series.

It also marks the fifth series to be announced from Aftershock, joining InSeXts (from writer Marguerite Bennett and artist Ariela Kristantina), SuperZero (from co-writers Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti, with art from Rafael de Latorre), Replica (from writer Paul Jenkins and artist Andy Clarke) and Dreaming Eagles (from Garth Ennis and Simon Coleby). The four previously announced series’ are set for release in December.
