Shamefully, in spite of our coverage of other conventions around the UK in recent years, we’ve never quite managed to make the short trip through to the capital to take a look at Edinburgh’s Comic Con.
This year however, all that’s going to change as Team BCP will be heading to the Edinburgh International Conference Centre on the 2nd and 3rd of April to experience all that Edinburgh Comic Con 2016 has to offer!
The event has been gradually expanding over its first two years, and after an incredibly well-received 2015 convention, has relocated to the EICC for what promises to be its biggest and most impressive event so far. The guest list includes a mixture of comic creators, film and TV guests, and with just over half of the names announced already, it’s clear that there’s going to be something to suit almost any taste.
From the world of comics, attendees will be able to meet artists like Chris Burnham (Batman Incorporated, Nameless), Nick Pitarra (The Manhattan Projects), Marco Rudy (Bucky Barnes: Winter Soldier) and Dan McDaid (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), as well as writing talent such as the award-winning Emma Beeby and Gordon Rennie.

The event will also see a variety of guests from the world of film, TV and gaming, including Cas Anavar (Assassins Creed), Paul Blake (aka GREEDO!), Patricia Tallman (Star Trek) and Kerry Ingram (Game of Thrones).
Fans of cosplay will also be thrilled at the return of the Third Annual ECC Cosplay Competition, with a massive £500 cash prize going to the winner!
With a lot of announcements still to come, including more guests and the event schedule for the weekend, there’s certainly a lot to get excited about already, and we’ll be covering the event as best we can over the next few months. Definitely another highlight on the rapidly expanding convention scene up here in Scotland, and one we’d heartily recommend to any comic book fans north of the border.
Tickets for the event – including single day, weekend, early entry and “Excelsior Passes” – are currently available from the Hero Conventions website.
