As our 5th narrator bites the big one, it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to, quite possibly, my most favorite comic character of all time. BOOOOOO!
But not to worry, as Gert will be back in a few months time. YAAAAAAY!
In the final issue of this story arc Gertrude has returned from the Lands of Not (with some seriously kick ass powers bestowed upon her by Darketh Deaddeath) to exact her revenge on the highly irritating, doe-eyed Happy and the (living on her last nerve) Queen Cloudia. And revenge she most certainly takes. I won’t spoil it for you, dear reader, as the twist delivered here is an absolutely fluffing genius move on the part of Skottie Young.
I love this series. LOVE IT. It ticks every box for an enjoyable read; Brilliant writing, fantastic art and coloring, comic violence and laugh out loud humor. Skottie Young has struck gold with Gertrude and there hasn’t been a single weak issue in this arc.
Simply put, I HATE FAIRYLAND is a hugely enjoyable romp through an acid coloured, bat shit crazy land of cute animals, rainbows, unicorns and a homicidal 30 year old trapped in a little girls body. What’s not to like? Buy it. BUY IT NOW.
Rating: A mother fluffing 5/5.
