Earlier today, Telltale Games released a few screenshots from “Batman – The Telltale Series”, as well as confirming the cast – and some of the characters players can expect to see. And now they’ve dropped a teaser for the upcoming season of their critically-acclaimed “The Walking Dead” series.
Feast your eyes below;
The quick sneak peek from Season Three sees an abandoned town as a zombie snacks on a fallen survivor. A bullet to the head dispatches the walker, and the camera cuts to an emptied gun and pans to the left revealing the shooter: it’s Clementine! And she’s accompanied by newcomer Javier.
While handing her another clip, he says, “That one was marked too. We must be getting close.” The clip fades to black with him saying, “Just hold on.”
The marking Javier refers to isn’t The Wolves’ “W” call sign, but a round tattoo on the walker’s left shoulder blade. Javier also has a similar neck tattoo. The marking’s significance isn’t explained, but it’s obviously an important clue for whoever the duo is tracking down.
The press release revealed a few interesting tidbits. Clem plays an important role in this story, but this is going to be a new story as much as it is a continuation of Seasons One and Two, which is supposed to allow new players an access point into the franchise.
That news is a bit troubling since it sounds like the story will be more in service of a newer audience than honoring those who have played through the previous seasons.
The press release goes on to say “…those familiar with the previous seasons will perhaps find some deeper meaning.”
Granted the story in season two wasn’t all that profound, it is problematic if the decisions players made previously won’t be explored. Telltale is working on being able to carrying over the decisions players made in the previous seasons aka your saved files. Judging that a significant amount of time has passed since the events of Season Two, we can only hope the writers will fill in the details in a satisfying way.
Javier’s character continues to be a mystery. He’s describes as a fellow survivor who has been through hell, and has managed to remain alive as long as Clem. You’ll be able to play as both Javier and Clementine throughout the course of the seasons, but how that works is a detail the company isn’t ready to reveal.
Expect more details from E3 starting this Tuesday!
