With all the comics going on sale every month, it can sometimes be difficult to keep track of the new books that are being added to the mix all the time.
Well, to help with that, we’ve taken a look ahead to next month and hand-picked the five new titles that we’re most excited about getting our hands on in February. And with creator-owned stories, licensed properties, fresh creative teams on existing characters and wild crossovers, there’s likely to be something on this list to satisfy even the most discerning comic book palate.
So take a look, and let us know which of these you’re most excited about in the comments.
Batwoman: Rebirth #1 (DC Comics) – On sale 15th Feb

If there’s a creator better suited to writing Kate Kane in the post-Rebirth era than Marguerite Bennett, we’re not sure who they are. Bennett has been on an absolute tear lately with her work on the likes of InSEXts and Animosity, and every interview we read where she speaks passionately and eloquently about the need for this title makes us even more excited. The fact that Steve Epting is drawing the new book is just the cherry on the already mouthwatering sundae.
Planet of the Apes/Green Lantern #1 (BOOM!) – On sale 1st Feb

We love a good crossover here at the Big Comic Page, so when we heard that these two epic properties were set to cross paths when Cornelius inadvertently discovers a Power Ring, we knew that we simply had to add it to our collective pull lists. The six-part series will be co-written by Robbie Thompson and Justin Jordan, and illustrated by Omega Men artist Barnaby Bagenda.
Kingpin #1 (Marvel) – On sale 8th Feb

The Civil War 2 tie-in was solid, but the prospect of seeing writer Matthew Rosenberg sinking his teeth into a full, ongoing crime-noir Wilson Fisk series makes us feel all funny inside. Rosenberg is joined by artist Ben Torres on the new series, which sees the titular Kingpin making his return to New York hoping for a clean slate and a fresh start. Place your bets now whether that actually happens or not.
Blood Blister #1 (Aftershock Comics) – On sale 1st Feb

The latest release from upstart publisher Aftershock Comics, Blood Blister tells the story of Brandon Hull, a morally reprehensible human being who finds himself cast into a world of horror when the corruption he previously relished starts to manifest itself on his once-perfect body. Writer Phil Hester is joined by artists Eric Layton and Tony Harris on the series, and given Aftershock’s track record over the last year or so, this is definitely going to be one to watch.
The Old Guard #1 (Image Comics) – On sale 22nd Feb

We love a bit of Greg Rucka here at the Big Comic Page, so his latest series – which sees a group of immortal soldiers plying their trade in the modern 21st century world – was always going to be high up on our excitement list. The artwork for this one is provided by Leandro Fernandez, who recently impressed with his work alongside Peter Milligan on The Discipline, also published by Image Comics.
