Ben Affleck steps down as director of THE BATMAN
Variety have confirmed that Ben Affleck will not direct The Batman as previously planned, but will still be starring in and producing the upcoming Warner Bros movie.
In a statement released with the announcement, Affleck said “There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions. Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require.”
He added “Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film. I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director. I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world.”
Sources have stated that this decision had nothing to do with the lacklustre performance of Affleck’s recent film “Live By Night”, and that Warner Bros fully supported the star’s decision.

Oh dear, this doesn’t bode well for the new Batman film by the sound of it.
It may actually end up being better for the movie, with Affleck not spreading himself too thin. Fingers crossed, anyway.
Let’s hope so, think the DC movies need a good Batman movie to get things back on track .
