With all the comics going on sale every month, it can sometimes be difficult to keep track of the new books that are being added to the mix all the time.
Well, to help with that, we’ve taken a look ahead to next month and hand-picked the five new titles that we’re most excited about getting our hands on in April.
So take a look, and let us know which of these you’re most excited about in the comments.
Batman/The Shadow #1 (DC Comics/Dynamite) – On sale April 26th
Scott Snyder and Steve Orlando co-writing, with Riley Rossmo providing the artwork? Ahh, go on then. This five-part series from DC and Dynamite sees Batman investigating the seemingly deceased Lamont Cranston after he becomes the number one suspect for a Gotham City murder.
Black Panther: The Crew #1 (Marvel Comics) – On sale April 12th
Marvel’s Black Panther ongoing has been one of the publisher’s definite highlights in recent months, so seeing series writer Ta-Nehisi Coates teaming up with Yona Harvey and artist Butch Guice on this new title – which sees Black Panther, Storm, Luke Cage, Misty Knight and Manifold coming together to battle a dangerous wave of street-level threats – is a fairly mouth-watering prospect.
Plastic #1 (Image Comics) – On sale April 19th
It’s a story as old as time. A serial killer falls in love with a girl, and their relationship helps him to finally control his vile urges. However, when she’s kidnapped, he finds himself forced to kill again in exchange for her freedom. Oh, and the girl in question is a sex doll. Doug Wagner writes, with Daniel Hillyard and Laura Martin providing the artwork in this wonderfully high-concept new series.
Aliens: Dead Orbit #1 (Dark Horse Comics) – On sale April 26th
We’ve actually had an early look at this one (CLICK HERE), so can vouch for the quality of James Stokoe’s beautifully illustrated and utterly chilling Aliens series. With Stokoe tapping into the claustrophobic horror that made the Alien franchise famous, this is definitely a book you’re going to want to pick up, if only to feast your eyes on the Canadian creator’s truly striking artwork.
Rock Candy Mountain (Image Comics) – One sale April 5th
A new Kyle Starks book is always cause for celebration here at BCP Towers, and the fan-favourite Sexcastle creator’s latest offering – a mystery tale which sees a hobo named Jackson searching for the mythical Rock Candy Mountain while being pursued by the actual devil – is about as close to an essential purchase as you can get. Oh, and if you want to find out more about the series, you should check out our interview with Kyle Starks by CLICKING HERE.
