BOOM! Studios and Saban Brands dropped a live-action trailer for “Power Rangers; Shattered Grid.” No, it’s not a sequel to Lionsgate’s “Power Ranger” movie that came out last year, but rather it’s the first comic book event for the rangers.

The trailer opens with Jason David Frank watching holograms he watches contain footage from various ranger incarnations including “Power Rangers in Space,” “Power Rangers Turbo,” “Power Ranger S.P.D.,” “the Mighty Morphin Alien rangers,” “Power Rangers Megaforce,” “Power Rangers Dino Charge”& ”Super Dino Charge,” and “Power Rangers RPM.”

It’s revealed at the end of the trailer that Lord Drakkon – an evil alternate-reality version of Tommy Oliver – is preparing to invade the various ranger’s worlds/universes. Surrounded by various iconic weapons (the power sword, power axe and power blaster) Lord Drakkon has a Thanos meets Lord Zedd kind of vibe going on.

“Shattered Grid” is set to unfold across 15 issues of both “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” and “Saban’s Go Go Power Rangers” comic book in which the Mighty Morphin Power Ranger must team up with various Power Ranger teams spanning throughout the franchise’s history. The event starts with the “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers” issue 25 (out March 28) written by Kyle Higgns and illustrated by Daniele Di Nicuolo and promises to be an event of mega[zord] proportions.
