The JUDGE DREDD: MEGA-CITY ONE television series is one step closer to becoming a reality.
At SDCC 2018, 2000 AD and Rebellion announced that the pilot script for Judge Dredd: Mega-City One has been completed.
Rob Williams, who has written Judge Dredd stories for 2000AD/Rebellion penned the script for the pilot. He also worked with a team of writers to flesh out ideas for the next two seasons. Although the titular judge will be a big part of the show, the series is said to be an ensemble drama which will also tell other stories the explore the world of Mega-City One.
Although no announcement was made, Karl Urban who played the character in the 2012 movie Dredd was in talks last year to reprise the role for the series. Urban has expressed interest in playing the character again so long as it’s “…done right.”
Considering how Rebellion Productions has tapped Williams who is familiar with the character to not only write but plan out future storylines, Urban’s return could be in the cards. If that’s the case, then this might be as close as we get to a Dredd sequel.
Rebellion creative director and CEO Jason Kingsley will executive producer the show with Brian Jenkins.
