Preview – Wild’s End #1 (2023) (BOOM! Studios)

Next month sees the exciting return to BOOM! Studios of WILD’S END, Dan Abnett and INJ Culbard’s “War of the Worlds meets Wind in the Willows” series which initially ran for the volumes between 2015 and 2018.

The new series, still set during the alien occupation of England, promises to deliver a brand new cast of anthropomorphic characters, and will no doubt boast the same blend of humour, emotion and high drama as the first three.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Out at sea during the invasion, our intimate crew of unlucky voyagers return to a world they once knew, their once-cozy seaside home, now occupied by alien invaders. Combining a rich cast of anthropomorphized characters in the tradition of Blacksad and aliens unlike any you’ve ever seen, in the spirit of War of the Worlds meets Wind in the Willows! WILD’S END is a world unlike any other… one you won’t want to leave.

We were huge fans of the first three series’ here at the Big Comic Page, and you can check out some of our reviews below:

Volume 1 Review“A perfect blend of action, drama, adventure, horror and humour, ticking all of the boxes when it comes to building a universe and filling it with life.”

Volume 2 Review“Featuring gripping plot twists and utterly engaging characters, The Wild’s End: The Enemy Within is a truly accomplished series that deserves to be seen by as many wide, appreciative eyes as possible.”

Volume 3 Review“It’s a genuine pleasure to see two creators working together with such perfect synergy on a project they’re both clearly passionate about.  Highest possible recommendation.”

Featuring a main by series artist I.N.J. Culbard and variant covers by acclaimed artists Francesco Francavilla (Night of the Ghoul), Ariel Olivetti (Thanos), and InHyuk Lee (Star Wars: Darth Vader), WILD’S END #1 goes on sale in print and digital formats on the 21st of June 2023.
