Earlier in the year, a teaser revealed Heroes would return to NBC as Heroes Reborn. Many of us were caught off guard by the news, including the original cast members. Below are some of their reactions to the original teaser:
Masi Oka, who played Hiro Nakamura, tweeted, “Was watching the Olympics and saw the #HeroesReborn trailer. Time to dust off the sword?”
Greg Gunberg, who played Matt Parkman, tweeted, “Pretty Cool. #HeroesReborn.”
Milo Ventimiglia, who played Peter Petrelli, tweeted, “Pretty big news. Congrats @heroes.”
David H. Lawrence XVII, who played Eric Doyle the Puppetmaster, tweeted, “What? … Oh, yeah. So happy for @TimKring and crew. Looking forward to seeing what they do! #Heroes #HeroesReborn.”
Sendhil Ramamurthy, who played Mohinder Suresh, tweeted, “Hmmmm…… #HeroesReborn.”
If the cast had no prior knowledge of the announcement, then one could assume the project would simply be a reboot. However, a press release confirmed Heroes Reborn would be a 13-episode miniseries by original creator Tim Kring, and NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke also said, “we won’t rule out the possibly of some of the show’s original cast members popping back in.”
Jack Coleman is the first of the alumni to be added to the official Heroes website under Cast Bios as the “Company” man Noah Bennett or HRG the man in the Horn Rimmed Glasses. The nickname was designated to the character by the fans until his real name was revealed. HRG also happens to be Claire’s father, which makes us wonder, how long we have to wait before the cheerleader herself Hayden Panettiere is added to the cast.
Deadline reports a handful of the original stars have been approached; however, both Zachary Quinto and Milo Ventimiglia – whose respective roles were Sylar and Peter Petrelli – are currently unavailable. While two of the arguably most popular male characters on the show might not make the cut, we can expect more familiar faces in show up in upcoming casting announcements since the official site confirms, “new and returning characters collide in the epic and never-ending battle between the powers of good and the forces of evil.”
Heroes Reborn is slated for the summer of 2015 on NBC.
Are you excited about HRG coming back? Which characters are you hoping come back for this miniseries? In terms of new characters what powers and abilities would you like them to explore?
