Brandon Routh, the star of “Superman Returns”, is all set to make his return to the DC Universe. However, rather than Superman, Routh will be playing Ray Palmer (aka The Atom) in the upcoming third season of The CW’s Arrow.
TV Line, who broke the story, described the Arrow’s version of Palmer as “an unparalleled scientist and inventor” who will “play an unexpected role in the lives of Oliver and (rumored love interest) Felicity as the new owner of Queen Consolidated. Palmer’s plans for Queen Consolidated’s Applied Sciences Division will be shrouded in mystery.”
Arrow has always been somewhat restrained with their use of quote-unquote “super powers”, so it’ll be interesting to see how The Atom (whose comic book powers include the ability to change the size of objects, as well as his own body) will be represented in their TV universe.
We only have a few months to wait before we can find out though, as the third season of Arrow kicks off on October 8th.
