Liam Neeson would play Arrow’s Ra’s al Ghul “in a heartbeat”

batmanbeginsraIn a recent interview with MTV about his upcoming movie ‘A Walk Among The Tombstones’, Lian Neeson was asked about Ra’s al Ghul.

With the leader of the League of Shadows being confirmed to make an appearance in Seaon 3 of The CW’s Arrow (via their impressive trailer released at SDCC), Neeson was asked if he’d ever be interested in reprising the role he played in Christopher Nolan’s lauded Batman trilogy.

His response?

“I would, in a heartbeat, if it came my way, yeah. Very much so.”

Now, as amazing as this sounds, it’s also incredibly unlikely to ever lead to much.  Neeson is very much in demand at the moment, so the likelihood of him playing a recurring character in a network TV show is almost nonexistant.  Neeson did however take time to share some advice for whoever does wind up landing the iconic role, adding;

“They have to believe in their philosophy. Ra’s al Ghul absolutely believed what he was doing was ultimately saving civilization, and it was quite a good argument he comes up with. Throughout the ages, this fraternity that brought the plague to wipe out a section of mankind because it needed to be regenerated again. Very dangerous, but you have to believe it.”

So it seems that this is one to add to the “if only” file, sadly.  Still, it’s nice to dream, right?

Arrow season 3 premieres Wednesday, October 8 at 8:00 p.m. ET on The CW.
