Geeking Out – Force Friday

Missing Mando Monday? How about a Force Friday?

I’ll be honest, I was totally thrown by the fact that these are 50th anniversary figures (I mean, I know lockdown’s been going for a while, but still!) – Lucasfilm’s 50th anniversary, that is.

First up, black series Qui-Gon and Mace Windu. At £25 apiece, these are excellent, dynamic figs, and there’s a lot of affection for both characters so imagine these will fly off shelves – but the Elite Trooper (from the upcoming Bad Batch series) is an absolute steal at £19.99, whereas £25 for the Battle Droid (as lovely as it is) might limit the urge to buy swarms.

More of a surprise, perhaps, is the deluxe Jar Jar Binks at £30.99; I mean, it’s easy to scoff but there’s a generation that grew up liking him… Apparently.

Now, for proper nostalgia, there’s a whole host of carded Kenner packages, a Jawa, Obi-Wan and our particular favourite, Greedo. At £19.99 a time, they really scratch that retro itch.

However, I’m not going to deny that it’s the £14.99 3.75″ figs that got my kids excited. A cracking AT-ST pilot, for a Paploo to hunt and a Leia to blast (my daughter wants that!) BUT a phenomenal Ahsoka and Maul (Mandalore version) to duel it out are absolutely the icing on the anniversary cake!
