New LEGO Minifigures Marvel Studios releases include Disney+ Favourites
Hasbro and LEGO have revealed the next wave of their Marvel-themed collectibles, and wow they are marvelous (sorry).
Let’s take a look, shall we?
Falcon & The Winter Soldier
Bucky Barnes
This is probably the most sub-par of the figures. All the printing is spectacular and the faces are perfect for the character. The accessories are a bit boring though, the knives are rubbish, he needs a pistol or something, and the Captain America shield will probably be pillaged for one of my Captain Americas.
Captain America, Sam Wilson
This is figure is awesome. In 2016, Falcon had non-articulate wings, then moulded wings in 2018 and 2020. These wings however perfectly strike the balance between brick built and moulded, allowing for articulation and good looks. The Redwing is well detailed, the shield is the same as Bucky’s, the new hair piece is very fitting, and the printing, oh my, it’s incredible; the arm printing, the leg printing, the side leg printing!
Wandavision
Scarlet Witch
Honestly, this figure is okay. The torso legs and are pretty good, but the head is the same face from the Endgame final battle. As for the Cape and hair, she would’ve benefited from a hip skirt rather than a cape, and the tiara needed to be dual moulded.
The Vision
Well, he’s technically accurate. But only if you look at concept art. The detail is fantastic, you can tell who it is immediately. The accessory is a bit odd though, with a S.W.O.R.D. laptop built out of a Lego book… might use that trick myself.
Monica Rambeau
I really feel this is a wasted spot. We could’ve gotten Zemo or something. The printing is fairly boring, the S.W.O.R.D. Copter is well built but really needs the S.W.O.R.D. logo on the side. Probably the low point of the series.
Loki
Loki
This figure is fabulous. So simple yet effective, the face is perfect, he just looks so much like the character. Did I mention, he includes Throg? This figure just blows me away.
Sylvie (Lady Loki)
This is a real stunner, everything about her is so accurate. Would’ve liked a cheeky smirk on the face. The green dagger is a clever parts usage. She gets crocodile Loki, which is great, right? Wrong. It’s a great crocodile mould but it’s lacking the signature Loki horns.
What If…?
Gamora with Blade of Thanos
I haven’t seen much of this character but as far as I can tell, the printing is spot-on and the weapon can butter bread. That said, I would’ve preferred plain dual-moulded arms and an armour piece so I could pillage the arms for my regular Gamora.
T’Challa Star-Lord
A wonderful representation of the character, the colours are spot on, and the legs can be used for other Star-Lords. The blasters are meh but the new hair piece is great.
Captain Carter
Say it with me, Peggy for a stealth suit before Steve. That rant aside, she is perfect. The printing is spectacular, the shield is so good, the Teseract is alright, and the hair piece is incredible and fits the character without a doubt.
Zombie Hunter Spidey
Very, very good figure. We’ve seen very little of this character. The cloak of levitation is a missed opportunity to use the new No Way Home one, but it’s still very good quality, the figure itself is a perfect generic Spidey with an alternate Peter Parker head and hair. The accessory isn’t worth mentioning honestly.
Zombie Captain America
I wasn’t really looking forward to this one but, after the official images, I can firmly say that I love this one. All the grime and scratches are masterfully crafted. The shield will be going straight to an endgame or civil war Captain America for most as it is all scratched up and damaged.
Overall, when you consider the extreme level of detail, the fact that twelve figures makes for a pretty easy number to collect, and the fact that they clock in at a fairly cheap £3.49 each (available HERE from early September), this set is going to be a must buy for me.
