First trailer for Shazam!: Fury of the Gods released

As part of today’s Hall H extravaganza at SDCC, Warner Bros have dropped the first trailer for the upcoming Shazam! sequel, Fury of the Gods.

Set for release this December, Fury of the Gods sees Zachary Levi returning in the title role, alongside Asher Angel as Billy Batson, Jack Dylan Grazer as Freddy Freeman, Adam Brody as Super Hero Freddy, Ross Butler as Super Hero Eugene, Meagan Good as Super Hero Darla, D.J. Cotrona as Super Hero Pedro, Grace Caroline Currey as Mary Bromfield / Super Hero Mary, Faithe Herman as Darla Dudley, Ian Chen as Eugene Choi, Jovan Armand as Pedro Pena, Marta Milans as Rosa Vasquez, Cooper Andrews as Victor Vasquez, and Djimon Hounsou as Wizard.

The returning cast is joined by Rachel Zegler, Lucy Liu and Helen Mirren.  David F. Sandberg also returns as director.

Not much of the actual storyline has been revealed to this point, and the trailer doesn’t really give too much away either (which is always a pleasant surprise), but suffice to say it definitely captures the same lighthearted tone of the original, so fans of the first movie will definitely love it.

Shazam!: Fury of the Gods is set to open in theaters internationally beginning 15 December 2022 and in North America on December 21, 2022.
