With all the comics going on sale every month, it can sometimes be difficult to keep track of the new books that are being added to the mix all the time.
Well, to help with that, we’ve taken a look ahead to next month and hand-picked the five new titles that we’re most excited about getting our hands on in March.
So take a look, and let us know which of these you’re most excited about in the comments.
Man-Thing #1 (Marvel Comics) – On sale 8th Mar
Man-Thing has been a bit of an untapped resource for Marvel Comics in recent years, so the prospect of seeing acclaimed Goosebumps and Fear Street author R.L. Stine breathing life into the classic character is definitely an appealing one. Plus, what we’ve seen so far from artist German Peralta (PREVIEW HERE) is only adding to that level of excitement, and this has the potential to end up being a fantastic addition to Marvel’s admittedly slight horror catalogue.
Royal City #1 (Image Comics) – On sale 1st Mar
Jeff Lemire’s creator-owned work is always, always worth a look, advice that is doubly true whenever Lemire is drawing the book as well as writing it. This new series will chart the lives, loves and losses of a troubled family across three decades, and looks set to be one of Lemire’s most personal projects to date. And if that isn’t enough to convince you, well, we’re not sure what else to tell you.
Grass Kings #1 (BOOM! Studios) – On sale 22nd Mar
Much like Lemire, Matt Kindt is another creator whose name attached to a title is pretty much a guarantee of quality. The fact that he’s working here alongside the fantastic watercolours of Tyler Jenkins (SNOWBLIND) here just makes Grass Kings all the more unmissable. The series is a rural mystery chronicling the story of the titular “Kings”, three brothers and rulers of a trailer park kingdom.
American Gods: Shadows #1 – On sale 15th Mar
Based on Neil Gaiman’s award-winning novel – and upcoming upcoming Starz television series – American Gods gets the comicbook treatment for the very first time this March, making it a pretty much an automatic inclusion in any “most excited” list. P. Craig Russell joins Gaiman in writing the series, with Scott Hampton providing the artwork as the story follows Shadow Moon as he gets out of jail to discover that his entire world has changed in his absence.
Savage Things #1 (Vertigo Comics) – On sale 1st Mar
2016 witnessed something of a renaissance for DC imprint Vertigo Comics, and with new books like Savage Things on the horizon, 2017 looks set to see them continue that impressive momentum. This new series from writer Justin Jordan and artist Ibrahim Moustafa sees a ground of kidnapped and specially trained chaos agents going rogue and cutting a swath of terror across the United Stated, prompting the authorities to bring in Abel, a man with a mysterious past, to try and round them up.
