With 2014 almost over, it’s time for us to take a look back and reflect on what has been an momentous year for comics. With the influence of comic books rapidly expanding into the world of movies and television shows – not to mention the jaw-dropping quality of titles that have been released over the last twelve months – there has probably never been a more exciting time to be a comic book fan.
We initially started this page as a bit of a lark – a place for comic fans to come and chat about things that interested them. However, over the last twelve months, the Big Comic Page has expanded to become something else entirely.
We tend to joke around a lot at BCP Towers about anything that makes us seem #legit (the hashtag is important), and seeing our name getting out there in press releases, promotional materials and cover blurbs for comics we’ve reviewed – as surreal as it still is – instantly makes all the hard work we’ve put in worthwhile.
We’ve received press credentials for some of the biggest cons going, hosted panels and talks with some of the most talented creators on the scene today, and have been able – in our own small way – to help promote the rising tide of stunning small press comics that many people may not otherwise be aware of. In the process, we’ve built up some fantastic relationships with comic creators, publishers and fans, and have worked extremely hard to give the followers of the page some genuinely interesting content to sink their teeth into.
It’s safe to say that we’ve accomplished a lot of the goals we set out for ourselves in 2014, but definitely have even higher aspirations for 2015, and hope that everyone who took the time to click on one of our links or comment on one of our posts over the last twelve months will stick around to see some of the great stuff we have planned.
I’d also personally like to offer a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to our success over the last year – whether you’re a creator who got in touch about a title or an interview, a publisher who generously provided us with review content and contacts, a member of Team BCP churning our reviews and content on a weekly basis, or just a fan who has come along for the ride. Thank you so much guys. Without you, we simply wouldn’t exist.
So for now, sit back and take a look at some of our favourite moments, titles, creators and posts from the last year.
Here’s to another cracking twelve months!
You can’t stop the signal.
